Gemini's New Small Business Tools: What to Check

On October 20, 2026, Google announced new Gemini tools for small businesses: a business landing page inside the app, images that follow a brand's style, financial charts, and connections to apps such as Shopify, Wix and Canva. They will reach all Gemini app users worldwide over the coming days.

What we know

  • The announcement: it is signed by Vishnu Sivaji, Senior Director of the Gemini app, on Google's official blog on October 20. Google says "tens of millions" of small business owners already use Gemini; the post gives no exact figure or method.
  • A business hub: Google describes a landing page inside Gemini for building the brand, analyzing finances, reviewing customer insights and managing daily tasks. The post does not say how to reach it.
  • On-brand images: owners can define a style by uploading their website, a brand kit, fonts or color palettes. Gemini keeps that style and applies it with Nano Banana 2.1, which Google calls its latest image generation model.
  • Finances: according to Google, Gemini turns spreadsheets, receipts and purchase records into charts and interactive models.
  • Connected apps: from Google, Business Profile, Google Ads and Google Workspace; from other companies, Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, Shopify, Wix, Zoho and Xero.
  • Availability: the landing page, the marketing and finance "skills" and the new connected apps are "beginning to roll out in the coming days globally" for all Gemini app users, per the post.

What changes and what doesn't

The Business Profile connection is not new. Google announced it on July 1, 2026, together with Business Notebooks, and at the time excluded the European Economic Area and the UK. What is new is the landing page, the skills, brand styles for images, the finance features and the list of third-party apps.

The October 20 post does not say whether anything requires a paid plan, which languages are supported or whether any countries are left out. Nor does it say that Gemini posts changes to a Business Profile, replies to reviews or creates Google Ads campaigns on its own. Companies that need admin controls and data governance are pointed to Gemini Enterprise, Google Cloud's offering.

What to check before you connect your business

  1. Your website is your brand source. If Gemini takes its style from your site, make sure the logo, colors and copy are current. Whatever is outdated on the site will be outdated in the images.
  2. Get your Business Profile right first. Hours, category, phone and address should match your website. An assistant reading conflicting data will produce conflicting analysis and copy.
  3. Connect only what you need. Each connected app (store, accounting, storage) opens another part of the business to Gemini. Review what each connection is allowed to do and remove it when you stop using it.
  4. Check the numbers. A chart built from receipts or a spreadsheet is only as good as that data. Compare any total with your books before you act on it.
  5. Use the images with judgment. They work for social posts and campaigns, but make sure they don't promise products or prices you don't offer. On your website, every image needs alt text and a reasonable file size so it doesn't slow the page.
